Yes, it is winter. Snow is on the ground, and the cold air is biting through just about everything. There is probably one thing on your mind: spring. Winter is actually the shortest season of the year, so before you know it, it will be spring. If you’re a homeowner, then there are a few things you need to start keeping in mind as the weather starts to thaw and the temperatures start to rise. Here are a few things to consider as you start planning your spring cleaning.
Clean the Gutters
As soon as you have the first warm day of the spring, clean out your gutters. Through the winter, leaves and debris get caught underneath the snowfall, and then when the snow melts and the water rushes into your gutters, all that debris goes with it clogging the drainage. All you must do is get on a ladder, get your hand in there, and remove all the gunk from the eaves.
Not everyone does well on a ladder, so if you must, hire an eavestrough cleaning service to come and handle the cleanup for you.
Store Your Winter Tools
All season long, you have been taking care of snow removal. Well, the season is over and it’s time to put away all of the shovels, salt, and machinery. As soon as the weather report indicates that snow is out of the equation until next season, put all of your tools away to make space. You are going to be moving into the planting season and lawn mowing season, so make room for you new tools.
Get yourself a storage shed where you can put all of your winter paraphernalia so that you can lock it up and start using all of your spring toys. The sooner you get this done, the better it will be for you to do a bit of spring cleaning in the garage or storage area.
Check Your Trees
With a heavy snowfall, some branches or parts of your trees may have broken. If that is the case, have those trees checked. You may come to realize that it could be a danger to have the tree on your property, and it may need to be removed. If you have come to that conclusion, contact a tree specialist in Jacksonville for tree care. A spring thunderstorm could roll through your area and the entire tree could come down damaging your home or hurting someone.
Have a Look At Your Air Conditioning
If you have central air, or if you have window units, make sure your air conditioners have the right juices and working parts in order to work. The springtime temperatures can get hot really fast, and you may want to turn on the A/C only to find it is not working. Have a service person come out to give it the once over and give it a full service so you can solve a problem before you are going to need to lower the temperature indoors.
