Blended Scotch Whiskey – Award Winning SIA Scotch

Disclaimer: I received a sample of the product for review – the words expressed below are my own.

SIA_scotch_whisky_bottle_shotWhiskey is often referred to as an acquired taste.  My husband will sip my whiskey and tell me all he can taste is burning, while I will sit there and comment on the notes of vanilla or toffee.  So I was excited to get to try this SIA Scotch Whiskey, which is a blended whiskey of Speyside, Highland, and Islay malt and grain whiskies.  It is blended, left to mature, and bottled in Scotland so it can retain the title of Scotch Whiskey.

I often find myself going back to the blended whiskey, since they have a better flavor profile for my palate, but also because they don’t leave my mouth numb.  SIA is no exception.  Not only is it visually pleasing, the color of fresh honey, it tastes delightful.  Fantastic when served neat, and I can say it almost has a caramelized sugar taste for me, rich and smooth, rather like a creme brulee or vanilla bean icecream.  Delightful, and when you add a touch of water it heightens the sweetness for me, making it an excellent mixer for a cocktail.  I of course, prefer my whiskey neat or on the rocks, and it is a fantastic sipping whiskey.

What makes this blended whiskey really unique, it was completely funded on Kickstarter!

While many people I know like their scotch in drinks like the Rob Roy, don’t be afraid to sip this delightful whiskey on its own.

Priced at 49.99 for 750ml, it would make a great host or hostess gift.
