If you have children in your life, be they yours, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, or the neighborhood kids that wave to you on their way to school, you know Minecraft. Minecraft is one of those games that is simple in graphics and execution, but can absorb kids attentions for hours. My son is one of these kids, it is the one video game he keeps coming back to. Even my daughter is Minecraft obsessed. They have the video game on both computer and Xbox, as well as the pocket version on their tablet. They even have Minecraft collectibles, action figures, clothing, and anything they can get their hands on. Well now my son has a portable version of Minecraft thanks to Gameband!
The Gameband Minecraft bracelet is a fantastic gadget that is relatively recently on the market. It is a fashion accessory, a watch, and a Minecraft dedicated USB storage drive all in one. It comes in two ‘varieties’, Redstone and Diamond. If you are a novice to the world of Minecraft, Redstone and Diamonds are two very important minerals, so it only makes sense that the Gameband is ‘powered’ by one of those two items.
The Gameband comes in three sizes, so it will fit children all the way up to adults, and believe me, Minecraft is just as popular with adults as it is with kids. The small size fit my 8 year old perfectly, and he can get it on and off with little trouble. On the side of the band there is a button. If you press the button you will be rewarded with a digital clock as well as a fully customizable pixel animation.
When you plug the USB into any computer, you will have access not only to Minecraft (You do need a valid copy of the game to actually play it since you use your username and password) but to a really neat application called PixelFurnace. PixelFurnace is where you go to add animations or scrolling pictures. You can make your own, or download ones folks have already done. And if you make your own, you can upload it to be rated and downloaded by others who have a Gameband!
You can store your worlds on the Gameband, which has a good 8gbs of storage, and upload into the cloud. You get a year of cloud storage free with the purchase of a Gameband, and after a year it is $9.99 for a year of storage.
While the price for the Gameband Minecraft edition is a bit pricey at MSRP $79.99, it is a very neat and convenient wearable that lets you carry your Minecraft worlds and creations where-ever you go. It is definitely going to be on many Minecraft lover’s wish lists this year. My son has been loving it and can’t wait to show it off. He has been playing with the PixelFurnace settings, but also the preloaded game maps from some of his favorite Minecraft e-stars, Hypixel, SethBling, and Dragnoz.
And their ‘Kidproof’ guarantee covers even losses. If you lose your Gameband, you can email them with your information and they will send you a new one for a reduced price within 24 hours, with all of your maps on it! As long as you backup regularly that is.
