It always seems to amaze me when I think about how much we learn throughout the years. From the time we are born and as we get older, we are constantly learning something new. Our brains are crammed with lots of useful information we may not always remember. However, many times we can see or hear something that triggers a thought or memory and it all comes back to us.  The human mind is simply amazing when it comes to retaining information. Just check out the infographic above. I don’t know about you, but this rings true for me. Toddlers and young children are a prime example of how we learn visually early on.

This past week, I attended a blog summit and one of the speakers shared some very valuable information that will be helpful in my household. I have two younger girls that are still learning to read. We are also learning how to better organize toys, books, and more throughout the house. She suggested (which is a great idea) to place labels on their toy bins that have the word and picture on them. This will help them learn the word by associating it with the corresponding picture as well as keeping them organized. I plan on doing this throughout the house in certain spots so that we increase their vocabulary over time.

Adults are no different than our younger children when it comes to retaining new information. We are very visual creatures. Even though I love writing reviews, I know that pictures or videos add a great deal to the product review. People are going to want to see the product in action because sometimes words just aren’t enough. These are just a couple examples of visual learning and how we retain most information.

How about you? Do you find something more appealing when there are pictures or a video attached?
