Tonight I was in the mood for some Pesto pasta so I went to my local Shoprite to grab a few items. I typically use the Barilla Pesto because let’s be real, I don’t know how to make it from scratch. I’m sure it’s fairly easy but I’m also lazy and want to purchase the least amount of ingredients. Moving on. I decided to try something different so I went with the Prego Creamy Basil Pesto. I was skeptical at first but it was cheaper than Barilla and came with more in the jar. Plus I wanted to see if it would be tasty and hopefully not disappointing.
I grabbed some bow-tie pasta, fresh spinach and grilled chicken for a complete meal. This was a simple meal that took less than 30 minutes and the sauce was surprisingly delicious. Thank goodness! The sauce has a creamy like texture kind of like Alfredo with a hint of pesto flavor. The flavor isn’t as prominent as the Barilla brand but it’s good nonetheless. Everything came together quite well and I would definitely purchase again.

There are two other flavors available so I might go with a different variety next time to see which I’d like best. Overall i’d give it a 9/10 rating for me. Have you tried this before? If so, what are your thoughts?
