Plenty of us are driving around in cars that simply don’t seem to be doing the job properly. Perhaps it’s a car you’ve had for years, or perhaps you were just in the position that you couldn’t exactly afford to shell out huge amounts of money on a brand new vehicle. Whatever the reason is, it’s pretty common for people to find that they just aren’t getting enough out of their cars. Fortunately, you don’t need just to be stuck between either paying more than you can afford for a new car and putting up with the frustration of your vehicle as it is. There are, in fact, a whole host of upgrades that you can make to your car in order to make it much more pleasant to drive that aren’t going to completely empty out your bank account.
1. Headlights

The ability to see properly when driving in the dark is definitely up there as one of the most important aspects of your car. You can always tell when a car has very low-quality headlights because they simply aren’t able to provide the levels of visibility that you need. By upgrading to some slightly higher quality lights, you’ll massively improve your ability to see what’s in front of you. You might find that the more expensive bulbs are anything up to twice the price of the cheaper ones, but there really is no price tag on being able to see what’s coming.
2. Engine upgrades
Perhaps you find yourself doing a lot of long drives fairly frequently, and your car’s engine simply can’t manage it. Well, there are a few useful upgrades that you can make that aren’t going to bankrupt you. By improving your engine’s cold air intake, you’ll be able to increase your car’s torque, horsepower, as well as fuel efficiency. This means that you’ll often end up making the money you spend on the intake system back with what you save on fuel.
3. Synthetic oil

Synthetic oil is such a vast improvement on traditional mineral oils that it’s genuinely astonishing that they are so close to each other in price. Synthetic oils are a little more expensive, but that is definitely outweighed by the benefits. They don’t oxidize or produce sludge in the way natural oils do; they have a better viscosity no matter the temperature. The only time when synthetic oils are the obvious superior alternative is when you’re driving a car with a rotary engine.
4. Ceramic brake pads
Another improvement that is so vastly superior that you’ll never go back to using anything else. Ceramic brake pads can withstand higher temperatures, produce less brake dust, produce far less wear on the pads and rotors. Not only that but they even produce a lot less noise than conventional brake pads as well. Once again they are a little more expensive, but when compared to just how much of an improvement they are, it’s clear that the extra investment is definitely worth it.
