Dried Fruit is one of my all time favorite snacks. It is portable, delicious, nutritious, but usually contains preservatives that I am allergic too. Sulfite allergies have plagued me since I was little, and it really makes me sad when I pick up a bag of dried fruit, read the label and see that I can’t eat them! Well I could, but to do that would risk breathing problems, and honestly no one needs that! And then I hear about Crunchies Freeze Dried snacks. I was so excited when I got a box of them to try and I dove right in!
Crunchies sources their fruit and vegetables from local farmers and picks at the peak of freshness. There are no chemical preservatives, no added sugar, just delicious fruit or vegetables. And they all crunch! Nothing like the crunch of a fresh picked apple, or the snap of a blueberry as you bite. Crunchies recreates that in their handy portable snacks. The hardest part was remembering to share with the kids.
How do they do it? Well directly from their website:
Our fruit and vegetables are harvested at the perfect ripeness, cleaned and then quickly frozen. The frozen fruit and vegetables undergo freeze drying with a special combination of temperature and pressure. The majority of the frozen water in the fruit and vegetables turns directly into water vapor, leaving the fruit and vegetables dry and crunchy. This unique process retains most of the color, flavor, and nutritional value of the fresh fruit. Taste the difference!
You really can taste the difference, and since they don’t use sulfites, I do! From Blueberries and Strawberries to Beet chips, Crunchies has a great selection of snacks for every palate. While my kids avoided the beets, they were my favorite! The rest of the family polished off the dried fruit in record time. And with no guilt! Might have to sneak a bag into the movie theater next time we go instead of candy. They are even non GMO certified. Yum! Add them to your oatmeal or cereal, or just eat right out of the bag! I won’t judge.
I received product for free to try in exchange for an honest review. Words stated here are my own.
