The latest beauty trends are teaching us that oils are not bad. They don’t make your skin go to teenage acne nightmare, but rather give your skin what it is craving. Modern soaps and washes strip beneficial oils and sometimes can cause skin problems that just don’t go away even with expensive treatments. I suffer from eczema, and I find that most body washes will leave my skin flakey by the time I go to shower again. So when I was offered a chance to try SoftSoap’s new Luminous Oil Body Washes I was excited.
First off they come in two decadent scents; Avocado Oil & Iris, and Macadamia Oil and Peony. Even my husband likes to smell pretty after a shower, but of the two he likes the Peony more. To me, I found the Iris to have a light floral scent, it was very lovely and lasted and lasted. It made me think of jasmine, which is one of my favorite scents. The peony actually smelt almost like burnt vanilla sugar to me, which is probably why my husband… who has a very strong sweet tooth… loved it.
I used this soap exclusively for a few weeks, lathering up with a bath poof every other day and using just the Luminous Oil washes. After I toweled off, my skin felt so soft and smelled heavenly. I continued to apply my extra moisturizing lotions on the rough patches on my skin, like my elbows and feet, but I didn’t feel like I needed it as full body coverage.
Now that I am rubbing my hands over my skin, I am impressed by the elasticity and smoothness. Even the trouble areas on my elbows are not as noticeable. And the best part, a little dime sized dollop will lather up beautifully. Of course I recommend using a sponge or bath poof for the ultimate lather, but even rubbed between your hands it applies so easily.
After my shower, the scent was still there, and lingered for at least half and hour. It is summer here in Connecticut, and since I am often outside, I try to avoid strong fragrances that attract insects. Luckily the soft floral scent of these body washes wasn’t a beacon to the creepy crawly kind, although my husband sure liked it! while I do have sensitive skin, everyone’s skin is a little different so you should be careful the first time you use any new soap product. I have not seen any increase in dry itchy patches, nor any other reactions. But then again I have been using SoftSoap for years in my bathroom and kitchen dispensers. For me and my family I trust SoftSoap!
