Disclaimer: Thank you to CHOP at Virtua for sponsoring today’s story and encouraging me to seek out their services when my child is hurt or ill.
As a parent to three girls, it’s a scary situation when either one of them has an unforeseen medical emergency. I’m kind of a hot mess even when they have to get shots or have a high fever. So if it comes down to more serious conditions that require things like an overnight stay or surgery, I want to make sure they are in the best possible hands. I’ve heard nothing but great things about CHOP at Virtua from my sister when my nephew had to have his tonsils removed, and since it’s conveniently located close by, that’s the type of hands I want my daughters to be in if any of them get hurt or suddenly fall ill.
Recently, my eldest daughter was at school practicing for a chorus concert when she suddenly felt hot, dizzy, and almost passed out. When I arrived at the school to pick her up and take her to the doctors, she was pale, lethargic, and wasn’t acting like herself. For me, this was very scary and I wanted to find out exactly what was going on with my first born. CHOP at Virtua has facilities that are close by with a superb pediatric team so if a situation like this were to happen again, I know my girls would receive the quality care that they need.
About CHOP at Virtua:
CHOP at Virtua is a partnership between Virtua & the Children’s Hospital Of Philadelphia. The two teamed up about five years ago, bringing CHOP doctors to New Jersey. With this partnership, parents have the already robust pediatric team of Virtua, along with easier access to the CHOP team of Philadelphia. Double peace of mind in my opinion!
I don’t want to have to think about my children being hurt, or having to need medical attention. However, the truth is, what happened to my eldest was a true wake up call that emergencies happen and to educate myself on nearby facilities. CHOP at Virtua is not only close by, but has an amazing team and services that include their pediatric emergency room, special care nursery for newborns, and emergency services.
