Keep Calm and Color! That is what the latest trend says, to sit down with an intricate coloring book and focus on that. As a woman with a degree in Psychology, focus of Art Therapy, I can say that coloring *IS* indeed theraputic. Doesn’t matter if you are using paint, crayons, colored pencils, chalk, or even food… coloring can have a positive effect on your mood.
Keeping that in mind, it seems like there are a million coloring books to choose from now, everything from in-depth intricate patterning, to free form expression. It doesn’t matter which you choose, as long as you take some time to enjoy the process. I was lucky enough to review a set of coloring books that are personalized to me. In fact they can personalize to anyone, and it is the only company I know of currently that does this.
Put me in the Story has a large line of children’s books that can be personalized, but now offers coloring books as well!
Each of the books will include the name you include as well as a message that you choose. The paper is stiff enough that you do not have to worry about tearing as you color, although the pages have designs printed on both sides, so be wary of that if you choose to use markers. The rest of the pages are filled with beautiful easy to color pages in a variety of designs and patterns, and they even include words of wisdom to help you meditate a little as you color. There are over 60 pages in each book, and all of them are beautiful. Whether you have a little time or a lot, they will help you focus and push back your stress. I spent a few hours coloring and it flew by so fast, considering how much stress I am under during the Holiday season, it was a welcome relief!
Coloring books make great gifts for any occasion, and it felt so good to bring out my colored pencils and color alongside my daughter. I think she wants a set of these for her birthday now.
Disclaimer: I received two coloring books free of charge to give my honest review. The words and pictures stated within this post are my own.
