Thanksgiving has come and gone so you know what that means? Christmas is coming!! Can you tell that it’s my favorite time of year? Not only that, baking and family fun comes along with it. I’m excited to do lots of baking with the girls but cutting back on sugar has been a must. Thankfully, you can still enjoy cookies, cakes, and treats simply by making a few Sweet Swaps™  using SPLENDA® sugar blend products!

The girls and I love cookies so we tried out this sugar free sugar cookie recipe and they came out great! You can find this and other great recipes by checking out the SPLENDA® website. Making this recipe is super easy, so grab a bag of SPLENDA® sugar blend at Walmart, and try whipping up a batch!

Here’s how to make them!!

What You’ll Need:

  • .1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup SPLENDA® Sugar Blend
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour

DIRECTIONS

  1. Beat butter at medium speed with an electric mixer in a medium mixing bowl until creamy. Gradually add SPLENDA® Sugar Blend, beating well. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla.
  2. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate mixing bowl. Gradually add flour mixture to SPLENDA® Sugar Blend mixture, beating until blended. Do not over-mix.
  3. Place dough on a lightly floured work surface. Divide dough in half; pat each half into a circle and wrap with plastic wrap. Chill cookie dough for one hour or until slightly firm.
  4. Preheat oven to 325º F.
  5. Remove dough from refrigerator. Work with one portion of dough at a time. Roll each portion to 1/8-inch thickness on a lightly floured surface. Cut with a cookie cutter, and place on lightly greased cookie sheets. Sprinkle with decorative candies or colored sugars, if desired.
  6. Bake in preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes or until edges of cookies are lightly browned. Cool slightly on cookie sheets; transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

I’m not the best decorator but these came out pretty good in my opinion. My girls and I had lots of fun baking them and you can’t even tell the difference using SPLENDA® instead of sugar. I separated all the cookies evenly and each girl decorated their own and added a light coating of peppermint dust. The dust was easily made by pulsing two large candy canes in my Ninja blender a few times.

If you’re looking to cut back and enjoy a sweet life without all the calories from added sugar, SPLENDA® sugar blend is a great place to start. The Christmas holiday will be here before you know it, and baking these cute cookies and giving as gifts are perfect for those with diabetes and others that want to cut back their sugar consumption. You can find SPLENDA® sugar blend at Walmart and connect with the brand on their social sites below. Have a wonderful holiday!!
