Shoulder and Knee pain? No problem!

Do you have muscle aches and pains?  Do you find yourself popping over the counter medicine more and more often to combat annoying aches?  If so, you might want to consider IcyHot’s Smart Relief TENS therapy devices.  They come in both shoulder and knee, and back and hip.

What is TENS therapy?  Well it is a form of electrical stimulation that can help folks with short term pain relief.  It essentially scrambles the signals your nerves send to your brain that is registered as pain.  So for most people, the small electrical pulses make your body think there is no pain at all!  Professional units can cost hundreds of dollars, and can be a real hassle to use.  IcyHot has made it easier for folks with reusable patches that are specially shaped to fit on your painful problem areas.

I do recommend you practice taking the removable battery pack on and off the included pad before you take off the protective backing.  It just helps with some trial and error!  Also it helps to have someone apply the pad if you are trying to get it on your right shoulder, and you are right handed.  It was pretty amusing until my husband stepped in to help me.

The battery pack has 3 buttons, an easy access on/off button in the center of the unit, and two increase and decrease buttons on either side.  They will up or decrease the stimulation when you press them, until you get the level of pain relief that you need.  The treatment only will last 30 minutes, but that doesn’t mean you have to take it off.  You can just tap the on button and go again.  The unit is small and discreet, and you can wear it out and about without smelling like arthritis ointment.  Just remember the higher the stimulation power, the faster the battery will drain, so if you need stronger stimulation, you may want to get some extra batteries to handle.

When you are done, you remove the electrode pads, replace them on the clear plastic backing and tuck them away for the next use.  No goop to wash off, and hopefully, the pain relief you need!  When the pad looses it’s adhesive, there are refill packs available.

For me, it has really helped deal with my minor muscle aches in my shoulder, and I am thinking about getting the back unit for my husband’s back pain.  Definitely has me reaching for the bottle of ibuprofen less!
