I think the biggest waste is produce. No matter what I do, we can never eat our fruits and veggies fast enough, there is always spoilage. And that is where Debbie Meyer GreenBoxes™ come into play. These tight locking containers are specially designed to help keep fruits and veggies at their freshest. Of course this does not mean they are limited to just produce. The 32 piece set comes with a great assortment of different sized containers, and none of those really itty bitty ones that no one ever seems to know what to do with. And the Debbie Meyer GreenBags® have been around for quite some time, and are very successful in keeping your produce fresh, and they can handle the bulkier items like celery and whole carrots.
I was given the opportunity to test the Debbie Meyer GreenBoxes™ and the Debbie Meyer GreenBags® out – and I am loving them. I am sure everyone has a cupboard full of tupperware, and ziplocs, that are missing matching lids. The GreenBoxes™ have two sized lids for 4 different sizes! So easy to store, they are dishwasher safe (Upper rack only please), BPA free, and made in the USA. You can use them to store just your produce, or you can use them to store just about anything! While they are marked as Microwave safe, I never put anything plastic in my microwave, just one of my little quirks.
So I thought to give these a test. I put cucumbers and carrots in two of the biggest GreenBoxes™ and let them go a week. Now my family loves their veggies, so they were opened and some of the vegetables consumed, but after a week everything was still great! Even my daughter commented that her salad cucumbers were ‘Still so very crunchy!’ while the cucumbers I just left in the crisper drawer were lets just say, liquified. While the carrots fared a little less well, they started to dry out, they were still perfectly edible and not slimy or mushy at all. Just the savings on salad cucumbers makes these worth while in my book. Normally those little kirby cucumbers go soft and slimy within 2 days of purchase, but not in my Debbie Meyer GreenBoxes™.
I have a bunch of celery sticks tucked into Debbie Meyer GreenBags®- but even a week out of the bag isn’t enough to change the texture too much. But I have high hopes. Make sure when you use them, you are following the instructions. The fruit/veggies have to be dry when placed in the containers. Everytime you open them you have to make sure to wipe away any condensation on the sides. However, even that minor inconvenience is worth it when you are biting into crispy veggies long after grocery day. Even the bags are reusable, just rinse out after you use them and let them air dry. Can’t beat that!
I received the Debbie Meyer GreenBags® and the Debbie Meyer GreenBoxes™ to try free of charge in return for my review. The words and pictures expressed here are all my own.

Great review Melissa. I definitely need these in my house. We eat a lot of produce but they never seem to keep longer than a few days. These would help a great deal.
