Quick & Easy Meals: Kabobs Using #HillshireSausage #Spon

#spon: I’m required to disclose a relationship between our site and Hillshire. This could include Hillshire providing us w/content, product, access or other forms of payment.

We are always looking for quick and easy meals, especially on school nights. This one saves time, adds healthy ingredients and doesn’t take long to prep at all. Thanks to Hillshire Farm, we were able to use their smoked sausage for our kabobs that’s a lot less messier than chicken & beef and adds delicious flavor on it’s own.

Here is what you will need:

  • Hillshire Farm smoked sausage
  • Your favorite Veggies (we used onions, green peppers, and red peppers)
  • Brown Rice
  • Salt & Pepper for taste
  • Skewers
  • Grill or Griddle

Instructions:

  • Place your skewers in water for 15 minutes. This will keep them from burning during the cooking process.
  • While your skewers are soaking, cut up your veggies and smoked sausage (try to make your veggies about the same size so they all cook evenly).
  • Once you have everything prepped, start to place your sausage and veggies on the skewers in a pattern of your choosing. We did two veggies, smoked sausage, two veggies, and so on and so forth.

  • When your kabobs are all done, salt and pepper to your liking and place in a container to the side.
  • Preheat your grill or griddle (We used a stove top grill that we purchased on Amazon).

  • Once your grill or griddle is heated, place your kabobs on top and cook until desired charcoal is achieved and veggies are cooked to your liking.
  • Serve with/over cooked rice.

This is a fast and easy meal that won’t take all day to prepare and serve. It’s also great on nights when you really don’t feel like cooking but your family is not willing to fend for themselves. The sausage is tasty and has a great flavor on it’s own and to your dinner. If you have picky eaters that don’t like the veggies you put on the skewers, there’s no worries. Place the uneaten veggies to the side and put in the oven another day to use in a dish the next night or for lunch. You can even add some unused smoked sausage and saute with leftover rice!

Dinner doesn’t have to be a hassle especially when you have Hillshire smoked sausage. You can easily make meals the entire family will enjoy and save yourself lots of time in the process. Don’t forget to get the young ones involved by giving them safe and easy jobs like rinsing veggies and opening packages. It’s less stress for you and a great bonding experience for everyone.
