Summer is not over yet and it’s not late to try something new! For instance, Matlaw’s stuffed clams are definitely something new for me. If you love clams, these would be a great item for you to try. I have never been a clam person and to be honest, the way I have seen them cooked really grossed me out. However, Matlaw’s has made me look at clams in an entirely different light. At first, I wasn’t too thrilled to try them out, but so glad that I opened my eyes to something new.
About Matlaw’s
Every bite of Matlaw’s seafood feeds your passion for discovery. We take your favorite seafood to new heights and turn your dining and entertaining into an out of the ordinary, memorable experience. With over 40 suppliers across the globe that meet our Safe Quality Food (SQF) requirements, we boldly follow our passion for discovery and bring the very best quality to your table at the best price. That’s a pretty big thing for a seafood company to bite off. But we accept the challenge daily. We wouldn’t have it any other way.
We were sent Matlaw’s stuffed clams in two different flavors, bacon & cheese stuffed clams and New England style stuffed clams. Each Stuffed Clam is elegantly served in a natural shell and loaded with flavor — a classic blend of golden breadcrumbs, succulent chopped clams, minced celery, red and green peppers; and sprinkled with paprika and parsley. They are packed with protein, iron, low in sodium, and are a good source of copper, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, selenium and zinc, too!
Matlaw’s stuffed clams are much more flavorful than I expected. I could finally get passed my fear of eating clams and enjoy them with all my fellow clam lovers. The stuffed clams can be cooked in the oven or placed right on the grill and are great for entertaining guests at summer barbecues. Below are some great grilling tips for cooking your stuffed clams and you can also check out this Surf & Turf recipe for when you are looking for other ideas.
Grilling tips:
1) Preheat your grill 15 to 25 minutes before you start cooking to make sure it reaches the right temperature (and to kill any bacteria). Your grill should be 400-450°F for high, 350-400°F for medium-high, 300-350°F for medium and 250-300°F for low heat.
2) Wrap clams in a foil pouch – leave the top open for a crispy top or closed for softer, moister clams.
