i love this time of year. i get to see all my family.
~one of my favorite things to do was making cookies with my grandmother, we would bake every year. she passed away in 06 and christmas hasn’t been the same. i have 2 boys 13 and 4 and I try to make Christmas fun and enjoyable for them–we bake, i drive them around to see the lights and spend plenty of time with their grandparents, so they would have some memories of spending time with them like i did.

My favorite thing to do this time of year is watch my family enjoy themselves. Tears fill up in my eyes knowing that some families will not be able to do something as simple as watching family members open up presents. I do not have any money this Christmas, and wonder if we will have a “Christmas,” but I think about the families whose lives have changed and I understand how this Christmas is simply the best because I have my family. Honestly every other year it was taking my kids to my Grandma’s house, but this year it will be a miracle if I can make it through the day. Losing Grandma in February and then our 2 month old daughter Audrey in November has kinda taken the fight out of me.

I have so many favorites this time of the year. My absolute favorite thing to do is bake all kinds of goodies and then make plates and give them out to the elderly. I love the smile on their faces when I knock on their doors. I know most of them can’t afford to make ends meet and this is just my way of thanking them for being my neighbors.

With everything so rush rush these days, I like to take my little ones into the room tat we have our tree, turn it on & then turn on some lite Christmas music, just for back ground noise & just sit and talk as look at the lights. It is the best time in the world. No t.vs, not cell phones, no distractions. My husband usually comes in & we just all just talk for a few hours. Once the kid are in bed, we continue it. So peaceful! Merry Christmas!!
