Sass Yourself Slim comes from the creator and co-author of the bestseller The Flat Belly Diet and was recently released on March 30, 2012. If you ever read or tried that diet than you will probably like this. In this book Cynthia Sass starts you off on a 5 day food fast forward. For five days you are eating four meals which consist of 5 foods. Spinach, yogurt, almonds, cranberries, and eggs. These five foods help shrink your belly and give you a fresh start for what is to come for the remaining 25 days of the 30 day plan. Along with eating these power foods she also explains to you the importance of eating them no less than three hours and no more than five hours apart. Doing these and a few more important steps you can lose up to eight pound in those first five days. I started the five-day food fast forward following her easy steps but only made it to day three due to not feeling well. In those three days I lost five pounds. I felt lighter, more energized and ready to move forward. I believe that if I did not get sick I would have lost the full eight pounds and would be ready to start the second phase of the plan. I do plan on starting it again when I feel better.
Along with my book that I received for review, came these almonds and container which is big enough to hold the allotted 23 almonds you are to eat a day. I thought that this was a great idea to keep you on track. I also got a bag of chocolate covered almonds too. Later in the book, when you begin your 25 day plan, she shows you how to incorporate a daily chocolate escape as your fifth meal. She explains how dark chocolate helps control food cravings and is good for your health. I love the idea behind this book and how it makes you think differently about your relationship with food. The foods and recipes that come with the second phase seem delicious and don’t seem depriving at all. The 5 day food fast forward may not be for everyone but definitely worth a try. I did not really like all the foods that were included but loved the benefit and results eating them produced. I got used to them by day 2 and they didn’t seem that bad by then. I look forward to where this will take me and can’t wait to try it again.
