Recently I was given the chance to review “B” By Sarah Kay. This is a very short book that packs a whole lot of punch and meaning behind it. At first I was kind of reluctant to do the review when I first received the email because I am not a book review blogger. However, something inside of me wanted to see what it was all about. So I watched the video that you see below and was blown away by this poet. Not to take up to much of your time by reading this post, I just want to say how much I enjoyed reading this to my little girls. Even though they are young, I could see and feel their eagerness to listen to this powerful poem made into a book with very simple but pleasant illustrations by Sophia Janowitz bringing Sarah’s words to life. I personally love her life story she tells in this video because it kind of reminds me of myself. A shy woman who took a big step by starting this blog and letting others into my life through my words. Sarah Kay is a phenomenal 22 year old poet and I am happy to have had the chance to share “B” with all of you.
Below I have placed Sarah Kay’s live performance of “B” from March 2011 at TED’s (Technology, Entertainment, and Design) annual conference.
My kids and I really loved “B” and I am sure you and yours will love it to. It is a great gift to pass down from generation to generation. If you would like to win your own personal copy of “B” please enter using the rafflecopter form below this post. “B” can also be purchased at Amazon, Barnes and Nobles, and Goodreads
