Recently I was given the chance to review “B” By Sarah Kay. This is a very short book that packs a whole lot of punch and meaning behind it. At first I was kind of reluctant to do the review when I first received the email because I am not a book review blogger. However, something inside of me wanted to see what it was all about. So I watched the video that you see below and was blown away by this poet. Not to take up to much of your time by reading this post, I just want to say how much I enjoyed reading this to my little girls. Even though they are young, I could see and feel their eagerness to listen to this powerful poem made into a book with very simple but pleasant illustrations by Sophia Janowitz bringing Sarah’s words to life. I personally love her life story she tells in this video because it kind of reminds me of myself. A shy woman who took a big step by starting this blog and letting others into my life through my words. Sarah Kay is a phenomenal 22 year old poet and I am happy to have had the chance to share “B” with all of you.
Below I have placed Sarah Kay’s live performance of “B” from March 2011 at TED’s (Technology, Entertainment, and Design) annual conference.
