If you want to stop your home from harming your health, you will absolutely need to make sure that you are doing everything you can to keep all pests away from the home as much as possible. Although damp itself is not always necessarily a problem, if you allow it to worsen it is highly likely that it will be. When damp becomes mold, that is when you need to start being concerned, as mold can be incredibly damaging for your respiratory system, and it can happen slowly and subtly without you knowing it for a long time. It is of course best to deal with damp at the outset, which could mean that you need to take a number of steps to get the home in a better state again. As long as you do that, it is much less likely that you will have any mold problems, so that is definitely worth doing. If mold does develop, be sure to have it professionally cleaned and removed, as this is the only way to be as sure as possible that it is gone.
